OUR OWN FAMILY COOKING SUGGESTIONS

It's best to cook your turkey the method that works best for you! These are just a few suggestions.
DO NOT OVERCOOK - Fresh-killed turkeys are young, tender and juicy.
Fresh turkeys cook more quickly than a previously frozen one.
They are high in protein, low in calories and cholesterol.

  1. Preheat oven 450 degrees
  2. 450 degrees for first hour, 350 degrees for the remaining time
  3. Approximately 10 minutes per pound.
  4. Stuffed turkeys take longer (one-half(1/2) hour longer or more).
  5. Use a covered pan, or make a tent with tinfoil.
  6. Remove lid last one-half (1/2) hour if not sufficiently browned.
  7. Add approximately one (1) pint of water in bottom of pan, one (1) quart of water for larger birds.
  8. Salt and pepper turkey, add a few pats of butter on skin, and sprinkle with a little flour - for a tasty skin.

    ENJOY!
